Learning and Growing Together

Parenting and Whole-Family Programming

Martha O’Bryan Center’s Whole Family Programming provides services designed to help families thrive, including parenting classes, drop-in and drop-off childcare services, and authentic two-generational programming for both children and caregivers.

Need

Most human serving organizations treat the child and caregivers individually, not as a family, and thus treat their needs in isolationThis approach frequently leads to programmatic silos and fragmented outcomes.

Approach and Innovation

Structure Parenting Classes

At the Family Support Network, we provide a range of structured parenting classes designed to empower caregivers with essential skills and strategiesFrom nurturing parenting techniques to literacy coaching and school readiness classes, we equip parents with the tools to enhance their roles as their child’s first and best teacher, thereby strengthening home learning environments.

Comprehensive Early Childhood Education

Additionally, the FSN provides comprehensive early childhood education through our Early Learning Center, focusing on cognitive, language, social-emotional, and literacy development. Learning activities promote healthy childhood behaviors, instill a lifelong love of reading, and establish a solid foundation for academic success.

Flexible Childcare

While drop-off care is open to the wider Nashville community, drop-in care is exclusively available for FSN familiesThis flexible option provides a safe and educational environment for children, allowing parents the space, freedom, and time to pursue their goals.

Family Preschool Program

To further enhance the skills acquired in parenting classes and early childhood education programs, FSN families can participate in our Family Preschool program. Here, caregivers and children (ages 19 months and older) engage in high-quality early learning together. Each session includes circle time, literacy activities, and alternating math and science lessons. Caregivers also receive materials to integrate into their family’s daily routines.
