2024 Champions Breakfast
It began in 2001 with a need to raise $75,000 and to raise awareness of the beauty and potential of the kids we served on the east side. Named after the people in the room who build, plan and contribute to the vibrancy of this city, this event has become a bi-annual gathering to celebrate what can be achieved for young people and families who are at or below the poverty level and served by the many programs of Martha O’Bryan.
Everything comes from what we believe about our neighbor. If we believe the 22 year old mother with two babies is full of gifts and a passion for her children, we will work to build a broad opportunity landscape that allows her to thrive and succeed. If we don’t, then we leave her and her children on the margins or even worse, pretend we don’t see her.

The Champions Breakfast occurs in even years, costs nothing to attend, and is a one hour event. Since that first breakfast, we have raised millions to educate children, sent hundreds to college and help families rise economically. At this event, we are accountable for investments made in the people we serve and we are always happy to share the good news of what is possible for low wealth families.
We believe in the power of work and education. We believe in the strength of our families. We believe that it is still possible to rise above poverty in one generation. Especially if you have a Champion.
