Through education, skills training, and employment supports, we help individuals achieve personal and career successWe aim to help individuals find and obtain meaningful work, that reflects their interests and talents, and provides fair wages and opportunity for future advancement. 

Need

Families in Nashville are struggling to make ends meet as the cost of living rises faster than wages. Currently, less than half of Nashville’s workers earn a living wage. 

Approach and Innovation

Through blended learning and individualized instruction, our Adult Education program helps adult learners strengthen core academic skills and prepare to earn a high school equivalency degree. Adult learners also have access to our digital learning lab and a wide range of community classes and activities including art, writing workshops, and field trips to local museums. 

For clients seeking employment or those ready to advance in their career journey, our employment team offers comprehensive coaching and individualized support tailored to clients’ interests, assets, and needs. On-site services include: 

Targeted training in four high-demand fields: Hospitality, Healthcare, Construction, and Information Technology

Opportunities to obtain high-quality certifications and credentialing in partnership with Tennessee College of Applied Technology and Nashville State Community College

Career bootcamps to gain career insights and explore educational pathways and certifications

Work readiness skills training, resume support, and interview preparation

Budgeting and financial literacy

Transportation and childcare assistance

Increased Income

Families receiving MOBC’s two-generational services increased their income $16,576 on average over the last three years. 

Adult Education

Adult Education students regularly demonstrate increases in literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. 

Training

Over the last three years, Family Success Network caregivers participated in more than 1400 education and employment training sessions.
