Our team supports hundreds of adults every year on the path to thriving careers, with programs for Postsecondary Success, Adult Education, Employment Coaching, and Digital Empowerment. We also provide targeted supports to young adults ages 17-24 who are disconnected from education or employment with The Re-engagement Hub.
Measuring Our Impact
The Postsecondary Success team serves adults of all ages as they pursue degrees and credentials at a wide range of 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges, trade schools and other professional programs.
Through comprehensive transitional coaching, mentorship, tutoring, dorm and school supplies (watch social media for our annual College Bound Bash) and ongoing financial aid support, Postsecondary Success optimizes the adjustment and persistence of low-income, primarily first-generation students, ensuring their post-secondary endeavors are successful.
Postsecondary Success also included the ARC program (Accelerated Residential Community). ARC provides free community housing near Tennessee College of Applied Technology as well as supplies, coaching and other supports for student pursuing education in the trades.

The Adult Education program at Martha O’Bryan Center is designed to meet every adult wherever they are in their education.
Our approach focuses on one-on-one tutoring and self-guided study plans rather than traditional classroom learning. Students can take the high school equivalency practice test and work with tutors to prepare for the exam, or work on individual skills such as reading, math, and digital literacy. Many of the learning platforms are online, so students have the flexibility to work offsite.

As an integrated part of the Family Success Network, our career coaches work with adults to develop unique action plans and clear career pathways based on interests, assets, and needs. Direct employment supports include onsite work readiness skills training, career fairs, career coaching, and referrals to key employment partners. The Starnes Group provides on-site small-group and one-on-one financial literacy courses as well.
Full participation in our 21st century digital society requires a PC, reliable home internet access, and digital literacy skills. Martha O’Bryan Center empowers community members with these tools for the home as well as in our Digital Empowerment Lab.
Integrated into our college and career team, Digital Empowerment brings computer skill certification, as well as career-facing technology training in support of clients’ college and career goals.
The Metropolitan Action Commission Re-Engagement Hub at the Martha O’Bryan Center is one of two Re-Engagement Centers in Nashville. Our mission is to re-engage young adults ages 17-24 in Davidson County who are disconnected from education or employment. We are a one-stop shop for coaching, peer support, and career pathways.
