At 74, Richard Moss has traveled the world, from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean, serving in the U.S. Navy. But this month, he walked across a graduation stage at Grace Church of the Nazarene to complete another journey: earning his HiSet diploma.

After retiring from his career in security, Richard decided he wanted more than the Special Education diploma he earned at Central High School years ago. So, he enrolled in MOBC’s Adult Education program with his sights set on a new goal.

On June 15, he achieved that goal, joining fellow adult education graduates to accept his diploma at the Workforce Essentials Davidson Country graduation event.

“This diploma means that I accomplished something I never thought I could,” Richard said. “If anyone is thinking about getting their GED, do it. Never give up. And don’t stop trying.”

Thanks to donors like you, our Adult Education program meets every learner where they are, whether they’re 24 or 74, and supports them to their goal. This year, 30+ adult students have earned their diploma through MOBC.
