Kent Miller selected as MOBC’s next Chief Executive Officer

The Martha O’Bryan Center’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Kent Miller as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. Miller, currently serving as Chief Operating Officer, will assume the CEO role effective May 1, 2026.
Adrienne Useted will step into the role of President, applying her distinct and essential expertise to MOBC’s mission. Sherica Clark Nelms, Ed.D., will continue in her vital role as Chief Program Officer, ensuring families and children continue to find the support they need when it matters most.
“We’re grateful to be able to move forward confidently with such organizational strength. In our search, it became clear the right leaders for this organization were those who have been building it from the inside,” said board co-chairs Mike McGuffin and Robbie King. “Together, this team positions MOBC excellently for its next chapter as a well-established, well-trusted, and well-loved partner for those who invest in our work and those who count on us to deliver.”
Miller brings 16 years of institutional knowledge to the CEO role including experience growing grant and fundraising revenue. He played a central role in building several of MOBC’s flagship programs including the Family Success Network, the Academic Student Unions at three Metro Nashville high schools, the 30-partner Tennessee Alliance for Economic Mobility, and the national Beyond the Cliff coalition. Taken together with MOBC’s comprehensive model and two-generational supports, these represent some of the most ambitious community development and systems-change work in the region.
“I have fallen in love with the mission of Martha O’Bryan and the community we serve. I have observed both the strength of our many families and what great leadership looks like,” Miller said. “I am honored to build on our ambitious vision for change. With the right systems and supports in place, we can transform the odds so every family has the chance to thrive.”

Useted will oversee finance, the organization’s two K–8 schools (East End Prep and Explore! Community School), internal operations, and talent development. Nelms’s continued service supports families and children across MOBC’s full programmatic portfolio, including its Early Learning Center, afterschool care, college readiness, adult education, and career pathways.
Marsha Edwards, who has served as President and CEO for 25 years and led the organization through extraordinary growth, will remain as President Emeritus through September 2026 and MOBC’s Champions Luncheon (September 3).
