Students at College Zone, our Academic Student Union (ASU) after-school program at Maplewood High School, received this inspirational message as a trio of motivational speakers from Momentum descended upon the campus to provide meals and mentorship.
Momentum is a 6-week after school program run by Youth Co, the youth ministry of The Belonging Co church in Nashville. Momentum is for teenagers who are in 7th – 12th grade, and it’s a program that exists to equip teenagers with the tools that they need to find early momentum in life. They believe in the potential that is within every student, and their goal is to help them succeed well beyond their teenage years.
An integral part of Momentum is their masterclass offerings. Students will experience lessons over 6-weeks that will equip them with knowledge and skills. Teenagers will learn how to make music, design t-shirts, shoot and edit videos, and many other things.
Every week, they provided students with a warm meal, snacks, and drinks for them to enjoy. Within the same confines of the College Zone classroom at Maplewood High, the team quickly transformed it into a place where teenagers can feel at home.
Martha O’Bryan Center would like to thank Momentum for providing laptops, meals and mentorship to our Academic Student Union students at College Zone, Top Floor and The Hub! We should always strive to make a difference in ourselves and others, and we hope this inspirational message helps you gain momentum as well.
