Old Man Winter visits Nashville yet again! While the bitter cold is always something to contend with, the season also brings some of the best displays of aptitude and entertainment from our partner schools and Academic Student Unions. Each after school program has their own version of a holiday, decided upon by our instructors and sometimes also the students. This year’s Winter Showcases at each school were no exception. We’ll start with the elementary school students and work our way to the high school programs.
Warner Elementary Arts Magnet School‘s Winter Showcase (pictured above) was a true delight! Full of dance routines, musical acts, mathematical equations, poetry readings, snowy storytellings and even an appearance by the Grinch himself! There was certainly lots to ensure everyone had an excellent time.
Stratford Middle School‘s Winter Showcase had tons of good food and loads of fun and games, such as a spirited round of #MusicalChairs, and even a #GingerbreadHouse-making contest! In fact, it was so much fun, we can’t wait to see what the students have in store for this semester!!
The Isaac Litton Middle School Winter Showcase may not have had bears or tigers, but they definitely had lions… and, you could really hear them ROAR!! Students definitely had several reasons to make some noise. Audiences were treated to presentations from the Dance Club, the Chess Club, the Photography Club, a jazz quartet, our partners at the Nashville Public Library and their newly award-winning filmmaking group, Script To Screen, who just won Best Film at Studio 615 for their short film, entitled “Dimensional Breakthrough!”
The Hub at Hunters Lane High School’s Winter Showcase was all about making spirits bright for participating students at Martha O’Bryan Center’s Academic Student Union at Hunters Lane High School! Holiday music played as the college-focused scholars took a break from their studies to make miniature Christmas ornaments as well as a gingerbread choo-choo train! They then had snacks and trimmed the Christmas Tree.
The Top Floor Winter Showcase at Stratford STEM Magnet High School included a smorgasbord of food, Holiday Bingo and many more Reindeer Games!! They also had appearances by some guest speakers who will be featured in an upcoming article.
During this year’s Winter Showcase at College Zone, Martha O’Bryan Center’s onsite academic student union at Maplewood Comprehensive High School scholars took a much-needed break from their studies to make gingerbread houses in celebration of the holiday season. They also found unique ways to share and display their talents which we’ll see in an upcoming article.
